Family Violence Project

Pacific Centre Family Services AssociationOur Family Violence program is designed to stop the abuse of women by their intimate partners and improve women's safety.

We achieve this through Project SOAR: Safety, Opportunity, Accountability, Respect

Safety: Our aim is to stop the abuse of women by their intimate partners

Opportunity: A specialized program for men who have been violent or abusive in relationships with women and for women in relationships with those men

Accountability: The purpose of counselling for men who have used abuse is to reduce the risk of future violent and abusive behaviour. Clear indicators of change are required in order to assess changes in risk as a result of treatment

Respect: Project SOAR will encourage and support learning and personal growth in order to develop

Counsellors provide 1:1 and group counselling based on the needs and assessment of men, who have behaved abusively in an intimate relationship.

The womens program raises awareness of the dynamics of abuse and supports women to make healthy choices that protect the safety and emotional well being of themselves and their children.

These services will be provided to men and women residing within the Capital Regional District.

Referrals for the Family Violence Project are open to the community at large. There is a fee for the men's program and subsidies are available. Call 250-478-8357 or 1-866-478-8357 for more information.
